2nd Demand Reduction Workshop of International Network of Engaged Buddhists

USAID Wildlife Asia and the International Network of Engaged Buddhists (INEB) will hold the 2nd workshop at Phitsanulok City in northern Thailand. This workshop is part of social mobilization efforts that will use face-to-face channels to expand the reach of USAID Wildlife Asia’s Spiritual Beliefs campaign to decrease demand for ivory and tiger products driven by beliefs in their power to bring good luck and prevent harm. This workshop follows the first successful workshop held on October 21, 2020 and expands the participation of spiritual leaders in additional provinces in Thailand. Approximately 30 monks and nuns from various Buddhist temples in Northern Thailand will participate in this workshop. Participants will discuss wildlife trade and its relation to Buddhist teachings, and will develop an action plan to counter spiritual beliefs about wildlife products and reduce consumption of these products.
